My name is June Coan, and I’m a 23 year old Springfield College student. My major is English and I just became a senior, but I won’t be graduating until May 2009. I grew up and still live in Riverside, RI. This blog (as mentioned in the first post) is inspired by the book Nickel and Dimed. After reading about a quarter of this book, I related very well to what Barbara was saying, even though she is completely undercover. I wanted to write my personal experiences, and the stuff I have to encounter on a daily basis. People say that being a cashier is easy, but I think after reading this, you may have changed your mind on who exactly is standing behind the counter…..

June–
Great blog. Well written. Spot on.
I wish you could understand that “management” feels the same way you do, but we can’t express that. Small things like mortgage payments, college tuition for the kids, and credit card bills get in the way of us telling how it really is.
But we understand…really we do.
Keep up the good work.
PE.
